Description: Ambassadors participate in a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the year including leaf raking, Winter Warming of the Heart, etc. Your hours are tracked and awards are given out at the end of the year!

Description: Open to all students interested in Art. Students will participate in a variety of activities both individual and as a group. Students can use this time to work on independent projects but are encouraged to participate in at least one of the murals designs / community projects. The mission of the McFarland High School Art Club is to provide students with an enriched learning experience that connects the Art Club students to the overall learning community. Students will be able to ACHIEVE this goal by participating in various activities.

Description: AASA aims to be a place where Asian American students can connect with each other and the MHS community; creating a safe and open environment where students of Asian ethnicity can share with others their heritage, cultures, and traditions. Description: We are a social activism group that works to raise awareness about and improve the equity of African American Students at McFarland High School.

Description: Connect has three main focus points: activism; bringing the community together; and exchanging information throughout the school. We are taking initiative to make the school a safer place where everyone feels seen and has an opportunity to learn about underrepresented groups, holidays and what is going on within our district. If you're creative, ambitious, passionate about making a difference, or interested in writing or public speaking, feel free to stop by any of our meetings.

Description: McFarland DECA is a business and marketing club at McFarland High School that contains four different pillars of activities: community service, competition, leadership, and team building. This organization meets twice a month on Tuesday mornings (2nd and 4th) and then the 2nd Friday of every month during advisory. DECA focuses on taking what is being taught in the Marketing and Business classroom and applying their skills when creating event management, fundraising opportunities, and preparing for competition. The cost to join DECA is a $30 fee that includes local, state, and national membership dues, a t-shirt, and supplies for general meetings. Some of the events this organization creates are the Spartan Family Tailgate, Ryan’s Round-Up, White Out to Wipe Out Cancer, Big Little Dance, Superhero Training Camp, World Market Night and more! Competition season starts in January!

Description: Typically a non-musical theatrical production. Rehearsal for 6-8 weeks, with emphasis on dramatic instruction in pursuit of a polished finished production. Auditions will be held in January, with performance dates in April. Always looking for aspiring actors and technicians – any and all are encouraged to audition.

Description: The students of Driftwood Students will have the opportunity to publish the school's annual literary magazine. 100% student driven, the Driftwood Creative Arts Anthology is a collection of student work: edited, designed, and published by students, for students. Students who have an interest in any of the creative arts are encouraged to be part of the Driftwood staff. Activities include selecting the work to appear within the anthology, promoting the anthology at MHS and in the community, fundraising for contests, and hosting the release party. Students will also have the opportunity to attend the UW-Whitewater Creative Writing Festival in the fall.

Description: Esports is organized competitive video gaming. Primarily composed of two teams (from different schools) competing in tournaments, seasons, and playoffs for a chance to win state awards and be seen by college programs. Students will collaborate with one another to create, practice and execute strategies to help defeat the competition.

Description: Forensics is public speaking in a competitive but fun environment. Students choose one of a variety of categories to compete in, develop and practice a performance, and then deliver this performance before judges. Students receive feedback on their performance to help them advance through levels of competition. Forensics runs from November - April, depending on level of advancement.

Description: Girl Up is a United Nations Foundation initiative focused on empowering young women around the world and educating people about the hardships women face globally. We are dedicated to expanding women's rights and opportunities! Girl Up fundraises for causes related to girls, educates about issues affecting girls, and runs supply drives to provide menstrual products at no cost. We are a registered club for Girl Up which is a global organization.

Description: Global Scholars is a nationally-recognized program designed to improve global learning in an effort to prepare all students to be workforce-, world-, and life-ready by examining global and intercultural issues through coursework, extracurricular experiences, literature, and service projects. Global Scholars understand and appreciate the perspectives and world views of others while engaging in open, appropriate and effective interactions with people from different cultures. Global Scholars act for collective well-being and sustainable development. Upon successful completion of program requirements, students receive an official Certificate of Global Competence from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Description: Hope Squad is a peer to peer suicide prevention program. Students are supporters and advocates particularly to peers who are struggling with mental health. Another main focus of Hope Squad is to educate about and remove the stigmas surrounding mental health.

Description: Kittens Mittens is a student lead TTBB (lower voiced) Contemporary A Capella group. We meet Wednesdays and Thursdays after school to practice our songs and have fun.

Description: If you enjoy meeting new people and enjoy speaking French or Spanish or just want to practice, this is the club for you! The McFarland World Language Club helps students practice speaking their target language and immerse themselves in the culture of the countries that speak it. Come to watch movies and listen to music. Come to brush up and hone your skills in French and Spanish (and more)! Come to meet other world language students. Come for the snacks!

Description: Letters of Love is a nationwide organization that aims to provide emotional support to sick children in hospitals across the country. The McFarland High School chapter will focus on spreading joy by writing letters, and making bracelets and blankets for kids at the UW Children’s Hospital.

Description: Med Club is a club for students who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare or life sciences. We help you get a better idea of what you want do after high school. Med club is also for students to share their passions with each other and bond over them! Med Club incorporates guest speakers, organization of blood drive, tours, lab experiences, and career exploration.

Description: Model UN is a simulation of the real United Nations. The United Nations is a global organization created after WWII tasked with maintaining world peace. Still today, it holds conferences where delegates from many different countries work together to make the world a better place. Every Wednesday after school, the MHS Model UN team meets in the SLC, during which we give updates, learn about what's going on in the world, practice our skills, and talk about upcoming conferences. We develop our skills in persuasion, public speaking, building alliances, problem-solving and writing by simulating anything from nuclear disasters to a zombie outbreak. We also engage in fun bonding activities as a club, such as movie nights and kickball. We typically travel to 4 Model UN conferences throughout the year (some one-day conferences and some four-day conferences), where we meet up with other delegations from across the country and role-play a position within a committee to solve world issues. We welcome newcomers throughout the year and encourage folks to join at any commitment level!

Description: Participate in a full production of major musicals that require various levels of acting, singing, and dancing. The musical is open to all high school students and has opportunities for those interested in tech crew as well as performing on stage. Technical aspects include: Sound Crew, Lighting Crew, Set Building, Props, and Costuming. All are welcome to audition or join the Stage Crew. Auditions to be a part of the cast are held the first week of school in August. Three performances are held in the MPAC in November.

Description: The National Honor Society is an organization comprised of students who embody the society's four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Once in the club students spend their time working in their school and the larger community. NHS holds events and fundraisers periodically throughout the year. Students must apply for membership and a faculty committee bestows the honor during a student’s junior or senior year. The committee reviews students’ commitments to school in conjunction with community activities and evaluates them in areas of leadership, character and service. To be scholastically eligible, a student must have at least a 3.5 grade point average. NHS members complete a number of community service projects during the school year.

Description: The National Science Bowl is a nationwide competition that tests your knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. We will meet once a week to study and practice in preparation for the competitions in the winter/spring. All science and math lovers are welcome to join, even if you don't want to compete!

Description: PAC Pack provides students access and opportunity to learn about and work with areas in technical theater, theatrical lighting, sound engineering, scenic design and construction. Members of this year-long club support numerous school activities including stage productions, music concerts, school dances, school presentations, and graduation. The club meets on Thursdays and by arranged event dates.

Description: Pitch Please is an audition only Treble voiced A Capella group that is available to all grade levels. This group is a welcoming, fun environment for people that just want to have fun and sing! We participle in certain events like choir concerts and Solo and Ensemble. Meetings are every Thursday 3:30-4:30.

Description: In the VEX Robotics Competition, students build a robot using the VEX V5 robotics platform to solve an engineering challenge that is presented in the form of a game. VEX Robotics Competition Challenge teams will work together scoring points in Teamwork Matches, and also get to show off their robot’s skills individually in driver controlled and Autonomous Skills Challenges. Students in the Robotics Club must be able to work well as part of a team.

Description: SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of America’s skilled workforce through a structured program of citizenship, leadership, employability, technical and professional skills training. SkillsUSA enhances the lives and careers of students, instructors and industry representatives as they strive to be champions at work. We participate in regional and state competitions in a wide variety of events throughout the year.

Description: Student Council is open to all high school students. It is a mix of students from grades 9-12 that work to plan homecoming and other school events. We plan quarterly service projects within our community and sponsor events to improve staff and student engagement in our school.

Description: Ultimate Frisbee is an unofficial school sport. During our spring season, we meet for practices throughout the week and compete weekly against other schools in the Madison area. We also attend two weekend tournaments: Madison Mudbath (hosted by Memorial High School) and the Wisconsin State Championship. Ultimate is a competitive sport that has a history of attracting players from all kinds of backgrounds and levels of experience. It's the "alternative" sport where you will experience values and a team atmosphere unlike any other sports team you've participated on. We are an inclusive club that values sportsmanship and competitiveness equally.

Description: The Visual Arts Classic is a competition which engages High School students in creative problem solving within their chosen studio area: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture, Art History, Computer Graphic Design, Traditional Photography, Personal Adornment, Video, and Digital Photography. Each year a theme is selected along with twelve artists and/or cultures for the students to study in-depth. Students are provided with a long-term prompt that they solve prior to the regional competition. Students will be provided with a list of materials to bring in order to compete in the onsite studio project at the regional competition. Students will also participate in two team competitions, an Art History Quiz Bowl that is centered on the year’s artists and cultures and a Critical Thinking competition that involves the team solving a problem together and presenting their solution to the other teams. Students receiving a first place on either their individual long-term or onsite project will proceed onto VAC State competition in Madison. Teams earning first place in Critical Thinking, the Quiz Bowl, or the teams with the highest number of points overall at each regional, will advance on to state to compete as a team.

Description: Students participate in a variety of activities including selecting the theme and design for the book, layout of pages, taking photos, and communicating with teachers, coaches, and students. We are looking for all kinds of people. If you are artistic, creative, social, organized, or business-minded, we have a job for you. While we have jobs that require a long commitment, we also welcome students who have less time or would like to work outside of meetings. We are flexible. Please join the MHS Yearbook staff.
